Dolan Springs Chamber of Commerce - Gateway to Grand Canyon W. Rim SkyWalk & Lake Meade Recreation
About Hualapai Tourism:
Grand Canyon Resort Corporation, which is wholly owned and operated by the Hualapai Nation, manages Grand Canyon West, Hualapai River Runners (whitewater rafting), and the Hualapai Lodge. Grand Canyon West is a collection of viewpoints and attractions spread over 9000 acres of the Grand Canyon’s West Rim in Northwest Arizona, just 120 miles east of Las Vegas, Nevada. Grand Canyon West is the only place in the Canyon where visitors can access a boat ride on the Colorado River via helicopter and is home to the Grand Canyon Sky Walk, a glass walkway 4000 ft above the canyon floor. The site attractions are: Guano Point, with panoramic canyon views and the historic guano mine tram; Eagle Point, the location of the Grand Canyon Sky Walk, the Native American Village with authentic dwellings of multiple tribes, and live Native American performances; and The Hualapai Ranch, a western town with cowboy entertainment, horseback riding, wagon rides and overnight cabins facing the Canyon rim. Private cars are welcome or all inclusive tours are available from Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Sedona by airplane, helicopter, coach, SUV, and Hummer. The Hualapai Lodge on Historic Route 66 and Grand Canyon West are open daily 365 days a year.  Hualapai River Runners, the only one-day whitewater raft trip through the Grand Canyon, operates March – October. A WORD ABOUT HOW TO DRESS WHEN VISITING THE SKYWALK IN THE WINTER MONTHS...
It's not always 90 degrees here. We have winter cold temperatures here, just not horrible cold like the north country.
If you go to the Canyon in shorts, sandles and a T-shirt, you may freeze. The Canyon is very barren and it gets cold and windy there. There is nothing worse than being cold so when here, bring cold weather clothes. That includes socks, real shoes, heavy jeans and a good warm coat. Cold comes in spells here. You may hit a warm period, or a cold one. Prepare for both. It will make your visit much more pleasant.

The biggest attraction in our area is the GRAND CANYON WEST RIM with it's SKY WALK. Dolan
Springs is the town you travel through to get to the Grand Canyon. It's a good idea to stop in our Chamber and pick up the brochures that give you all the details of the Canyon and the activities there. Prices are also listed in the brochures. You can read through them and have your experience all planned out before you get to the Canyon.
(See the next tab "How To Get To Dolan Springs.)
Countless thousands visit the GRAND CANYON to witness one of natures most magnificent works. From downtown Dolan Springs, just drive a few miles to the 29 mile marker and turn right onto Diamond Bar Road. The Rim is only 20 more miles in.
 It's all clearly marked.

Here are some signs to help you find your destination. These are what you will see as you are driving on Pierce Ferry Road en route to the Canyon and Sky Walk.

To start with, whether you are coming here from the north, Nevada & Las Vegas, or coming from the south, Kingman and beyond, you will be driving on Hi Way 93. When you get to the 42 mile marker, you will see this bill board. You will be turning onto Pierce Ferry Road.

This is the
first sign to look for.

Then keep driving on Pierce Ferry road until the next signs, show below.
Just before you see this sign, you should watch for the 28 mile marker.

This is the first sign you will see before you exit Pierce Ferry and make your right turn to go to the Grand Canyon.

Just a few more feet before you turn.

Turn right at this sign.
(You can't turn left or you
will drive into a big 'ol hill.)
Ouch!

Very useful information. This sign is right across from the Diamond Bar sign above.

This is the road you will now be on that takes
you to the Canyon.
Keep in mind that from Pierce Ferry Road to the Canyon is 20 miles. The first 5 miles is in the process of being paved. You then have about 9 miles of dirt road, then you will break out onto a fine hard surface road which will complete your journey to the Grand Canyon. It's not really a big deal, but just plan a little extra time for this project. Make sure you always have plenty of gasoline and plenty of water to drink. Don't try to get by with a low gas tank. Ok? Good. Have fun...I know you will.
---------------------------------------------------
If you have kids in school, bring them to see the Canyon.
What a marvelous subject for them to write about.
Here is a National Park Service link to the West Rim.

There is also a SOUTH RIM and an EAST RIM. The south rim is north of Flagstaff. Each area is well worth the time to visit and we're sure you will never be sorry you took the time to visit each. Stop in our Chamber and we'll help you plan your trip to those rims too.
Keep in mind that when  you tour the various rims of the Grand Canyon, these are not quick thirty minute 'things to do'. You should plan several hours to spend at each Rim. Check carefully a road map to plan your trip. If you have a GPS, those are very handy to have out west.
