DOLAN SPRINGS
ARIZONA
928767-4473 Cell: 702-371-2229
Dolan Springs the gateway to the GRAND CANYON
WEST RIM and the part of Lake Mead known as the SOUTH COVE.
To get to Dolan Springs, take highway 93 to the 42 mile marker and turn onto Pierce Ferry Road. There is only one way to turn so you can’t miss it. The town of Dolan Springs is 6 miles in. Dolan Springs is a hub to many attractions and activities. Lets take a look at those.
Dolan Springs is in the NATIONAL JOSHUA TREE FOREST. These trees are unique to this area. Stop and get your
picture taken alongside these very old 200 year trees.
Take a walk on our Trail System too, and meet the Joshua Trees up close and personal. (See Dolan Springs Trail
System tab.)
The GRAND CANYON WEST RIM is one of the most magnificent attractions in the world. From Dolan Springs, go to Diamond Bar Road at the 29 mile marker on Pierce Ferry Road and follow the signs. The Rim is 20 miles in from there. Of course all the points of the CANYON are magnificent. Each have their own personalities and views.
HOOVER DAM at the Arizona/Nevada state line is a man-made Don’t Miss attraction. Folks from all over the world come to take in this construction work of art. There is currently a massive ‘overpass’ project going on and that in itself is something to see. See some photos by going to our web site, very last tab.
There is abundant HIKING opportunities around us. Dolan has a beautiful hiking trail just on the edge of town.
As you head out from town, just past the school is 15th St. Go there and follow the sign to the beginning of the trail. Come for a hike and photo shoot. Put on your high boots, bring plenty water and hike around Mohave County
by us and get to know all sorts of snakes, lizards, birds, spiders and other critters. No, you won’t find a snake under every rock. Chances are, you won’t see ANY! They don’t
want to be around people and won’t bother you if you don’t bother them. Hiking around here is a huge amount of fun. Kick around the mountains but be careful. Wear gloves for hand protection and the high boots to prevent sprained ankles.
SOUTH COVE is just beyond Diamond Bar Road by about 10 miles from where you would turn to go to the Grand
Canyon. South Cove is part of Lake Mead and has a big
boat ramp so if you bring your boat for sight-seeing,
fishing or swimming, you can put it in there. This area has beautiful views of surrounding mountains and provide
some very memorable views of Lake Mead. See our website for photos.
OATMAN, Arizona isn’t far from Dolan Springs.
It’s located in the mountains south of Kingman. It’s an old mining town from the late 1800’s with lots of wonderful stores to explore. The Oatman Hotel where Clark Gable and Carol Lombard spent their honeymoon is there. Wood board-walks line all the stores and wild Burro’s wander free in town eating carrots the tourists feed them. Local merchants sell the carrots so buy a bag or two and make a friend of some burros. Take state Hi Way 40 to
Los Angeles out of Kingman, and in 3 ½ miles
turn off at exit 44and take Oatman Highway up the mountain to town. That drive provides some of the
greatest views of mountains you will ever, ever see so BRING THAT CAMERA!
The GRAND CANYON CAVERNS are north east of
Kingman on historic Route 66. It's located at the
115mile marker by Peach Springs. The Caverns were
an inspiration for Radiator Springs from the
Disney/Pixar film CARS. The Caverns are some
35 million years old and are 21 stories below the surface. (See Peach Springs members tab.") The grounds have restaurants, a landing strip, RV park
& camping and a motel. Well worth visiting! Bring
is their site.
You will find their info on our website, too.
GAMING, GAMBLING AND TOP-KNOTCH SHOWS are just across the Colorado River at Bullhead City. There are plenty Casinos and Resorts in Laughlin Nevada. There are all
sorts of gambling challenges available, bowling, movies, stage shows with the same entertainment as Las Vegas
but without the hassle of the big city. You will find several top notch casinos there to have plenty of fun at. You
can eat yourself silly at all those buffets too. Go on…have some fun! Laughlin is very family oriented too, so bring
the kids.
BOATING, WATER SKIING, SWIMMING, JET SKIS
and all that can be found in Bullhead City. Lots of water craft rentals lets you have fun on the beautiful Colorado River. There are also plenty of RV parks and camping available in Bullhead, too.
CHLORIDE is only about 11 miles south of Dolan Springs,
3 miles off of Hi Way 93. Just look for the big sign to point you in the right direction. Chloride is a former 1880’s mining town with many original buildings. It still has lots of active commercial mining there and in the surrounding area.
Check out the hand painted murals 1 ½ miles out of downtown Chloride.
HOWEVER, YOU DO NEED A 4 WHEEL DRIVE OR HIGH-RIDING PICK UP TRUCK TO GET THERE.
Not a good idea to try to take a car!!
YESTERDAYS restaurant in Chloride
kicks out some great food with live music
7 days a week.
LAKE HAVASU CITY is located on Lake Havasu and is a tropical paradise. It has tons of water recreation
for you to take part in. LONDON BRIDGE is there too. (See Lake Havasu members tab.)
